Oct 10 website creation tools for teachers Mikey McKillip

Teachers are busy teaching and often don't have a lot of time to create an online presence. Here are a few FREE options for the busy teacher.
Many schools have a space allocated on their server for teachers to host a website, blog, wiki, etc.  Our school has decided to use WordPress. This is a great option for teachers but there is some technical setup involved. It is worth your time and effort as WordPress is a powerful and Free web/blog tool.

I have been looking at some other options for teachers and individuals that want to create a site that is easy to use and also free. I have decided to try out Edicy (the current host for this site).

Edicy has been great so far. I have been able to edit online from any computer with an Internet connection. The site saves automatically. There are a few templates for you to a design your own site. The editing options are simple and easy to use. Uploading, inserting and embedding media files is also simple and easy to do. There is also an online chat/support option available. Multiple language options/tools are a bonus.

Another site I am investigating is Viviti. They are still beta testing and you can request a beta-key. This site building online website seems to be more dynamic, offering more options to users. This one is definitely worth a view.

The last site I a going to mention is Google Sites another online web tool that is free and easy to use from the Internet giant Google. At first glance, the online editing seems intuitive with a familiar looking layout and simple editing options.
